Bacigalupi Vineyards | 2016 Late Harvest Muscat

Winemaker Notes
2016 was an idyllic harvest. We had much more rainfall here in Sonoma County than we had in the previous vintages, which led to a great growing season and a nice crop. Flavors were still high and crops were higher than last year but not too heavy.

Production Notes
We harvested the grapes for our Muscat in the middle of the night in late September.  The grapes were brought to the winery and put in the press whole cluster. The juice was fermented cold in a neutral oak barrel very slowly over 4 weeks. We arrested the fermentation at 6 brix and about 14.0% alcohol. We bottled after 4 months in barrel.

Tasting Notes
"Stellina" Italian for little star is the namesake for John and Pam's oldest grandchild, Stella.
Aromas of orange blossom, toasty brioche and lemon meringue really lead the way on this wine. The palate is full of juicy apricot and ripe white peach. The flavors are delicate and balanced. This wine is so floral and pretty that it may not even come across as a dessert wine. Highly recommended with a grilled peach salad or orange pound cake with vanilla bean ice cream.
