2010 was a great year for Russian River Valley Zinfandel. The year started with a wet and cold spring, followed by a hot July. The grapes were picked and sorted by hand in the early morning hours, and brought to the winery ice cold. After a five day cold soak, the must was inoculated and punched down three times per day for almost two weeks. The finished wine went down to barrel and was racked twice in 18 months before being bottled.
The color of this wine is an inky black. The fruity aromas of black cherry and currant are rounded out with vanilla and pepper notes. The palate has lots of jammy fruity characters and a high tone structure with good acidity on the finish. This wine should age well and improve over the next 5 years.
